Hey, I’m Kristian

I’m a Southern California based artist, and want to be 15th century explorer. I spend my time riding my bike, recording podcasts, and drawing.

I was born in San Diego, but I lived in Darien, Connecticut for the formative years of my life.

I started my official “art career” out of high school when I took random odd jobs and opportunities all over So Cal. Helping people at cons, interning at different companies, going to figure drawing workshops, going to community college.

Over time I began meeting more people, which led to doing other things. Eventually the excitement of stepping out into the world became more fulfilling than anything else. I started living in a van, and started driving around the U.S. talking to people trying to figure out the point of everything.

I learned that everyone at every scale is dealing with something that makes life difficult. No matter where I go I meet people struggling with money, or their relationship, or their status at their job, or their perceived incompetence in a particular skill. It could be in the middle of now where Nebraska, or Manhattan, or Australia, or Europe. Money, status, and accolades don’t make existence any more fulfilling. But I do believe there are things that make someone’s life meaningful, and I’m learning that it’s entirely up to the individual to find whatever that is.

My goal more than anything is to have freedom over my time and over my own values. I believe success is non linear, and entirely subjective. What your version of success is may be completely different from somebody else’s.
